What is

The Regents’ Scholars Organization (RSO), established in the fall of 2007, provides an opportunity for Regents’ Scholars to form a close-knit community at Texas A&M University.

The mission of RSO is to help Regents' Scholars and first-generation students with their college endeavors and to serve the community with excellence and integrity.

Regents’ Scholarship Program

First awarded in Fall 2004, the Regents' Scholarship is designed to assist first-generation college students in achieving their educational goals at Texas A&M University. Students who entered fall 2019 or earlier will receive up to $5,000 per year for up to four years.

CAPs

Mission: Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) contributes to student learning and development. They provide exceptional services and programming focused on student mental health. CAPS exists to advance student development and academic success by providing personalized and evidenced-based mental health care to Aggies.

Campus Tutoring

Clarissa Maldonado

President

Howdy! My name is Clarissa Maldonado and I’m from the small town of Devine, TX. I’m part of the class of 2024 and am majoring in Sociology! Some of my favorite hobbies include trying new crafts, watching shows with my roommates, and baking. I am very excited to be your RSO President and am looking forward to spending the year with y’all! I hope you can find some comfort in the organization and learn about yourself as well!

Ben Poe

Vice-President

Howdy! My name’s Ben Poe. I’m a senior ChemE from Houston, TX. When I’m not busy with school, I spend my time working out, running, napping, gaming, or hanging out with friends. My current interests include fitness, health, skincare, cooking, video games, and anime (recently interested in 90’s and 2000’s shows). I’m RSO’s VP for F23/S24, so you may see announcements or get newsletters from me throughout the year. Also senior classes are hitting hard, so I may not attend as many events as I want to, but I hope to see ya’ll around! 👍

Isaac Gutierrez

Events Director

Served as the Finance Director and now Events Director for RSO. Involved with Pescadores at St. Mary's. Peer Mentor last year and this year. Was involved in an Aggie Research Program project involving creating an R package. Always do intramurals.

Angeline Colunga

Finance Director

Prospective Material Science or Industrial Engineer hoping to utilize my degree to pursue a career in innovative or environmentally friendly technologies. My hobbies include learning piano, reading, journaling, and recently cooking new foods. This year, I look forward to witnessing growth in both membership and finances.

Erick Vanegas

Public Relations Coordinator

I’m Erick Vanegas and I’m a proud member of the 2024 graduating class, whoop! I’m a member of the Corps of Cadets and have been working on getting a bachelors in Psychology these past few years, alongside a minor in Neuroscience. My future goals are to become a Clinical Mental Health Counselor as well as a Marine Officer. I look forward to making some memories with you guys and making the most out of my last year!

Lorelei Torres '26

Membership Developement Coordinator

Howdy! My name is Lorelei Torres, I am a Sophomore and currently in General Engineering. My hobbies & interests include: Futbol, cool guitars, cooking/baking, video games, coding, CTFs, watching movies/tv shows, and running sometimes. Other Organizations & clubs I'm in are the Aggie Coding Club and the Women in CyberSecurity Club. I look forward to being RSO's Member Developement Coordinator this year. Thanks for having me, and I can't wait to meet all our new and returning members this year!

Pastor Alvarez

Service Coordinator

Howdy, my name is Pastor Alvarez from the Class of 25. My major is Biology and I'm hoping to go to graduate school. Some of my hobbies include working out, baking, coding, and playing different sports. One fun fact about me is that I have a black belt in Taekwondo. I look forward to being the RSO Service Coordinator and helping to pay it forward.

Beejan Lee

Social Coordinator

My name is Beejan Lee, and I’m a 2026 Biomedical Sciences major from Pflugerville, TX. I enjoy traveling, scrapbooking, going on walks, and am always down for a spontaneous adventure. I am excited to be serving as social coordinator for RSO this year and hope to provide a safe, welcoming space for our members. I can’t wait to have some fun with everyone and share all that we have planned!

Leticia Palomin

RSO Advisor, Routh First-Generation Center

Dr. Leticia Palomin is a Rio Grande Valley native from Pharr, Texas, and a proud first-generation Aggie graduate. She serves as the Director of the Routh First-Generation Center in the Office for Student Success. Leticia looks forward to continuing to serve the Texas A&M community and contributing to student success!
